Made Fresh, Shared Freely
Our desserts are made each morning in the Roy's kitchen — from the sponge layers of our shortcake to the carefully folded mochi that wraps our ice cream. We use seasonal fruits, Japanese ingredients, and a light hand with sugar so that each dessert feels indulgent without being heavy.
Everything on this menu is designed for sharing — though we completely understand if you order one all to yourself.
This Season's Desserts
Matcha Roll Cake
A feather-light sponge roll made with ceremonial matcha, filled with lightly sweetened Hokkaido cream. Sliced to order and dusted with extra matcha powder. Beautiful to look at, even better to eat.
Strawberry Shortcake
Three layers of cloud-soft sponge, fresh Kyoto-grown strawberries, and lightly whipped cream. The Japanese strawberry shortcake is an art form, and ours has been perfected over years of loving practice.
Honey Toast
A thick cube of brioche toasted until crisp on the outside, soft within. Served with a generous pour of wildflower honey, vanilla ice cream, and seasonal fruit. Great for sharing between two.
Seasonal Fruit Tart
A buttery shortcrust shell filled with vanilla pastry cream and piled generously with whatever fruit looks best this week. A beautiful, rotating showcase of Japan's exceptional seasonal produce.
Mochi Ice Cream
Our handmade mochi wrapped around premium ice cream in three classic flavors. Matcha, black sesame, and strawberry milk. Each one is two bites of pure joy — and children find them completely irresistible.
Flavors: Matcha / Black Sesame / Strawberry
Warabi Mochi with Kinako
Traditional Japanese warabimochi — a trembling, translucent sweet made from bracken starch — dusted with toasted soybean flour (kinako) and drizzled with dark molasses syrup.
Kyoto Citrus Pudding with Caramel
Our pastry team's current obsession — a silky-smooth steamed custard pudding made with fresh yuzu juice and Kyoto-grown eggs. Inverted onto a plate with house-made amber caramel sauce pooling around its edges. Elegant, local, and quietly extraordinary.
This dessert changes with the seasons as the best local fruits become available. Ask your server what we're featuring this week.
The Kids Sundae Bar
We designed the Kids Sundae especially for our youngest guests — a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream in a wide bowl, topped with strawberry sauce, colorful sprinkles, a wafer fan, and a cherry on top. It arrives at the table and the entire family tends to stare at it for just a moment before the spoons come out.
The Kids Sundae is intentionally sized to be a treat without being overwhelming — appropriate for children from around age 2 upward. For very young children, we can serve a smaller, plain vanilla scoop on request.
Our ice cream is made without artificial coloring or high-fructose corn syrup. We think it should be a genuine treat — and that means using real ingredients.
